Everything you need to know to get started — from buying the game to mastering the paint mechanic.

Beginner-Friendly 5 Min Read Step-by-Step

Step 1: Get the Game

Meccha Chameleon is available exclusively on Steam for PC. Simply visit the Steam store page, purchase the game ($4.79 – $5.99), and download it through the Steam client.

There are currently no console or mobile versions available.

Step 2: Understand the Roles

Each match divides players into two teams:

Hiders

Your job is to paint your character and blend into the environment. Find a good spot, match your colors carefully, and stay still. The longer you survive, the better.

Seekers

Your job is to hunt down every hider before time runs out. Scan for subtle color mismatches, unnatural shapes, and slight movement. Work as a team to cover more ground.

Step 3: Master the Paint Mechanic

The painting system is what makes Meccha Chameleon unique. Here's how it works:

  1. Open the Paint Tool

Press the paint key (default: Tab) to open your color palette and brush tools.

  2. Sample Colors from the Environment

Use the eyedropper tool to pick up exact colors from walls, floors, and objects around you.

  3. Paint Your Character

Apply colors to different parts of your body. Match the background pattern and gradient for perfect camouflage.

  4. Strike a Pose

Use pose controls to position your character naturally. A stiff T-pose will give you away instantly.
