Backrooms Map Guide
An eerie liminal office space with yellow walls, stacked chairs, mounted bikes, and fluorescent lighting.
Map Overview
The Backrooms is inspired by the internet's liminal space horror aesthetic. Endless yellow-tinted office corridors, fluorescent ceiling lights, stacked furniture, and wall-mounted oddities. The unsettling atmosphere works in your favor — seekers get psychologically fatigued faster here than on other maps.
Difficulty: Medium | Size: Medium-Large | Best for: Tricksters, patient players
Best Hiding Spots
Wall-Mounted Bikes
Paint yourself to match the bikes' shapes and colors. The mind reads bike-shaped objects as "bikes" — not characters. With good color matching, you read as just another piece of wall decor. Paint in metallic silver and black.
Under Stacked Chairs
Crouch under a tall stack of chairs. The shadow created by the stack naturally darkens you, and chair legs break up your outline. Paint to match the floor color underneath.
Bright Ceiling Light
Attach to a ceiling light fixture and match its bright, glowing color. The light itself dazzles anyone who looks directly at it, making it nearly impossible to distinguish a camouflaged player. Most seekers avoid looking at bright lights.
Exit Sign Disguise
Paint yourself as an exit sign. The rectangular shape is easy to replicate, and exit signs are so common that seekers completely filter them out as background. Use bright red/green depending on the map's exit sign color.
Behind Individual Chairs
Position behind a single chair with precise color matching to the wall. Surprisingly effective — seekers walk past expecting groups of chairs to hide players, not single chairs.
Shadowed Corners
Find darker corners or recessed areas between ceiling tiles and walls. Lie flat with minimal paint. The fluorescent lighting creates harsh shadows that naturally conceal dark shapes.
Seeker Tips for Backrooms
- Check all wall-mounted objects (bikes, signs, decorations)
- Sweep under stacked chairs — crouch to check low angles
- Look up at ceiling lights — scan around the glow
- Check behind single chairs, not just groups
- Dark corners and ceiling recesses are favorite spots
- The map is repetitive — take breaks between sweeps to stay sharp
